Cancel culture is 'racism in its purest form' tribal leader tells DOE Sec. McMahon, 'Chiefs' community

“MAGA meets NAGA” is how Frank Black Cloud, vice president of the Native American Guardians Association, described a rally in support of the “Chiefs” tradition in Massapequa, Long Island, New York on Friday.

Black Cloud, a member of the Spirit Lake Tribe of North Dakota, shared the floor with Trump Administration Department of Education Secretary Linda McMahon at Massapequa High School.

"True respect and understanding come from dialog and education, not from censorship or erasure,” said Black Cloud, who landed the heaviest blows yet against racist cancel-culture elitists and their false woke narrative that silenced Indian voices and consensus opinion for decades.

Massapequa, NY argues that state ban on Native images is racist in new federal lawsuit

Massapequa is fighting the state’s blanket ban on Native American images in public schools and last week filed a federal lawsuit accusing the state Board of Regents of violating the Civil Rights Act.

The state ban, issued in 2023, is supposed to be fully effective in June 2025. Massapequa shows no signs of complying. The community’s beloved Chiefs name and icon are seen all over the school — and across the town.

Members of the Native American Guardians Association spoke at Massapequa High School in Massapequa, Long Island, NY in defense of the community’s “Chiefs” tradition.

Students Friday proudly wore Massapequa Chiefs apparel, in defiance of the Governor Hochul Administration. A giant Massapequa Chiefs mural is painted on a building facade next to the high school.

Students gifted Sec. McMahon and NAGA members with Massapequa Chiefs t-shirts.

“Those who seek to dismiss or erase cultural heritage under false pretenses perpetuate racism in its purest form,” said Black Cloud. “NAGA is committed to exposing and fighting this type of racism.”
