'No nobler venture for faith and freedom': Pilgrim gravesite testifies to spiritual roots of American society

American citizens reminded to carry on fight for liberty at common grave of dozens of Pilgrims who died first winter

“History records no nobler venture for faith and freedom,” reads a memorial tomb that marks the original common gravesite of the Mayflower Pilgrims in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Join the Thugs of Liberty and help spread the heroic tales of American history.

The heroic settlers landed in Plymouth on Dec. 19, 1620, at the start of a brutal New England winter. They buried nearly half their numbers, 48 of 104 men, women and children, by the following spring.

It must have felt like the end of times. But they never wavered.

The haunting but uplifting memorial reminds of more than just their sacrifice and perseverance. It also reminds us that America without its root of faith is not America at all.

Marxists, atheists and sinister evil-doers behind cancer culture know this fact of our national heritage better than most patriots. Our enemies study and look for weaknesses in the values and foundations we take for granted.

It’s why these enemies of America so ruthlessly attack religion - or at least attack Judeo-Christian religion. They know that if they can sever the American people from our faith, the entire fruitful towering plant we call the United States will shrivel and die.
